Ascendant Access has delivered one of its unique 22m working height tractor mounted platforms to North Wales-based D Jones Plant Hire.

Primarily used by overhead power line contractors, the latest A22-17TR joins one similar machine and five Ascendant A18-13TK platforms fitted to Takeuchi tracked carriers in D Jones specialist hire fleet.

Mounted on a John Deere 6830 tractor the Ascendant A22-17TR provides 17m of unrestricted horizontal reach with a 3-person, 280kg payload in the cage as well as the 22m maximum working height. The off-road ability of the tractor allows access to remote line locations which few other vehicles can reach, and none with such extensive reach characteristics, says the manufacturer. Flexibility is further enhanced by the one-sided jacking facility which allows the machine to work in narrow country lanes.

Sharing with other Ascendant platforms the design philosophy of being simple to operate, easy to maintain and with rugged all-steel boom construction, the A22-17TJ is ideal for demanding environments. With full-pressure hydraulic controls and a minimum of unnecessary electronic circuits, Ascendant machines have built an enviable reputation for reliability and longevity in service.

The A22-17TR is one of several purpose-designed off road machines currently in

Ascendant’s build schedule. As well as a number of the previously-mentioned A18-13TKs on Takeuchi TCR50 chassis, the company is about to build its first A22-17TK on a Morooka MST800 tracked chassis. This will offer all of the reach characteristics of the tractor-mounted machine with ultra-low ground bearing pressure for traversing soft ground unsuitable for wheeled vehicles.
