Power services company Aggreko has announced that it has been selected to power the 2020 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The industry-leading company, which supplies energy services, will be powering twelve different venues across Japan.

Aggreko will be responsible for all critical power and distribution systems at the tournament, including those at the International Broadcast Centre, which will broadcast coverage of the Rugby World Cup around the world.

The company said it was proud to have been selected for the contract and that it plans to have 80 engineers stationed at the various sites.

Robert Wells, managing director of Aggreko Events Services, said, “We have ample experience handling the world’s biggest events, and the 2019 Rugby World Cup certainly falls under that category.”

Aggreko has a proven track record for providing power solutions for large events. In 2018 the company provided services for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the Ryder Cup in Paris and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Most recently, Aggreko won the contract to provide temporary power for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, also in Japan.
