One Call Hire adds 90 JCBs to fleet
02 November 2014
UK rental company One Call Hire has purchased 90 JCB Loadall telescopic handlers in a deal worth £5 million (€6.4 million).
It said the investment took its fleet of JCB telehandlers up to 180 units, and included JCB 535-95, 540-140 and 540-170 models.
One Call Hire said it expected the majority of its new JCBs to be deployed on the Crossrail project.
The company currently provides equipment to key areas of development in London, including Stratford, Hackney, Westminster and Lewisham, and is supporting contractors on major projects including Crossrail.
“We chose JCB for this major telehandler investment due to the reliability of the products, the excellent relationship with our dealer Greenshields JCB and the value of the JCB brand among our customer base,” said One Call Hire commercial & sales director, Tom Gleeson.
“We also recognise the importance of sustainability and the environment so fuel and emissions reductions are of huge significance for us on key inner city sites.
"Equally crucial are the cost savings we can provide for our customers by running fuel-efficient equipment. With the Ecomax engine, JCB Loadall telescopic handlers are excellent on fuel consumption.
"Each machine can save our customers as much £450 pounds (€575) a year in fuel, which is a reduction of 1668kg of CO2 Gas. Over a year this equates to a reduction of 112,000 kg of CO2 or nearly £30,000 (€38,000) across these new additions to the fleet," he added.
Developed to meet the EU Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Interim emissions standards, the JCB Ecomax engines incorporated across the One Call Hire models are said to produce between 6 and 15% more torque and 5 and 10% more power at low revs than the previous Tier 3 engine.
The JCB purchase order is part of a fleet investment programme which has seen One Call Hire spend £25.25 million (€32 million) on new plant and machinery to date for 2014.
