XCMG MEWP, the specialist access equipment division of Chinese manufacturer XCMG, has launched its new Smart Cloud King series range of boom lifts.

Said to be “smarter, safer and larger” than the machines in its previous aerial platform ranges, the new generation boom line is an upgrade of the manufacturer’s XG series product line, and features increased energy-saving capabilities to help users reduce their impact on the environment.

While the company - which is a reasonably new operational business within the wider XCMG group - has yet to release complete details about the new models, a special event to launch the complete range, which has been teased with various models at recent exhibtions, was held at XCMG’s facility in Xuzhou, Jiangsu in China, in the final quarter of last year.

Speaking at the K series launch and the manufacturer’s 2022 Business Conference event, XCMG Chairman Wang Min, said, “In future, XCMG MEWP will make full use of their industry-leading advantages. With safety and reliability, to create China’s preferred brand of aerial work.”

The launch of the K series follows XCMG MEWP’s release of its 58.6m working height telescopic boom lift and the introduction of its first lithium battery-powered telescopic boom lift, both of which were announced in October 2021.

The K series machines are now being produced by XCMG MEWP at its new manufacturing base at the group’s Jiangsu site.

Incorporating advanced process assurance and lean control capabilities and testing systems, the facility became operational in late 2019 and now produces 35 MEWP models, including scissor lifts and articulated and telescopic booms.

Since XCMG MEWP’s formation (about six years ago), it has “continued to increase its overseas market layout”, by expanding its sales to “more than 60 countries and regions around the world,” said the company.

It has also “intensified the strategic” development and deployment of its electrified and fully electric products to increase its carbon dioxide and carbon neutrality.
