Corvus adds electric utility vehicle

Spanish manufacturer of utility task vehicles (UTVs) Corvus Off-Road Vehicles has launched its first fully electric model, the Terrain EX4, designed for use in agriculture, construction and events.

The EX4, which Corvus claims is the first electric model of its size in Europe, follows the diesel powered UTVs that the company has introduced since it was founded in Murcia, southern Spain in 2017.

The all-electric vehicle was first seen at the UK’s Game Fair in July and will be shown at the EIMA exhibition in Italy in November. At EIMA the company will also show its first petrol-powered UTV.

The EX4 can be used off road and has a 300 kg payload capacity in the rear box and total payload capacity of 620 kg. Its unloaded weight is 897 kg.

It is 3.4 m long, 1.65 m wide and 1.97 m high, and has a wheelbase of 2.24 m. Ground clearance is 309 mm and the drive system offers on-demand 4x2 or 4x4 options, with a rear differential lock.

Power comes from a 15 kW Lithium Ion battery which provides a range of up to 100 km, depending on use. It has a 3 kW AC battery charger. The battery drives a 13 kW motor delivering up to 150 Nm of torque.

Corvus said the Terrain EX4 would be available in the final quarter of 2022.

Juan José Bernal-Quirós, Managing Director of Corvus Off-Road Vehicles, said; “The combination of the best technology, our passion for designing new work vehicles and Corvuss’s dedication to consumer-driven innovation has created an all-new electric Terrain that offers an incredible driving experience.”

Corvus, which has a design centre in Barcelona in addition to its Murcia production base, was created by a number of investors, including the Gracia family, the founders of Himoinsa.

It has expanded rapidly and now has 118 distributors in 37 countries, mainly in Europe but also Australia, parts of Africa and two locations in the Caribbean.

The company aims to further expand its product line-up over the coming years. Under development is a smaller, lighter version of the EX4, the EX4-S, as well as an 800 cc version of the diesel 1000 cc Terrain DX4.

Two petrol models are also planned, with 570 cc and 800 cc models to be launched. More details on these will be available at the EIMA show.

Corvus exhibits at EIMA in Bologna on 9 to 13 November and can be found in Hall 34, Stand A/17.
